SiDi [A Sidney Crosby Story] Eight; The Phone

The next weekend Sid was over & they were hanging out in Kay's room, listening to music. She showed him my hockey stuff.& basically they just hung out all day looking at random Penguins stuff that Kay had collected over the years. At about seven-thirty Sid gave her a kiss good-bye then left.
The next day, somewhere around two o'clock a 'RING, RING.' was heard in Kay`s room. There was a cell phone, but if definitely wasn`t Kay`s & she recognized the ring tone, it was Sid's.
"Hello?"
"Hi who`s this?"
"This is Kailey, who`s this?"
"This is Mrs. Crosby, Sidney's mom, why do you have his phone?"
"Because he`s my boyfriend & I guess he left it here yesterday."
"Ok, when you see him next could you tell him to call me?"
"Sure."
"Ok, so how long have you two been going out?"
"Um...about three weeks."
"Oh, well I`ll let you go."
"Bye."
"Bye," Mrs. Crosby said then Kay closed her phone with a confused look on her face.
At about five-thirty 'RING, RING.' "Hello?"
"Hey."
"What`s up?"
"I kinda left my phone in your room."
"Yeah, I know your mom called."
"Oh, what did she want?"
"She just wants you to call her."
"Ok, um can I come & get my phone?"
"Sure."
"Did you eat dinner yet?"
"No," She said with a smile.

"Ok, do you wanna go out & get something then maybe hang out?"
"Sure, but I have to be back by nine cause I`ve got school tomorrow."
"Ok, I`ll be there in about five minutes."
"Ok," She said hanging up. In those five minutes she changed into an outfit that was a little nicer & fixed her hair. She went down to the drive-way just as Sid was pulling onto street. "Hi baby, here’s your phone."
"Thanks" he said then kissed her cheek.
"Did you call your mom yet?"
"No, I was gonna do that now, hope you don`t mind."
"No, that`s fine. So where are we gonna go to eat?"
"I`m going to take you to where I staying & we`ll eat there."
"Ok."
"Hello?" Sidney's mom said on the other end of the phone call.
"Hi mom you called?"
"Yeah, I talked to your girlfriend Kailey."
"Kay."
"What?"
"Her name is Kay."
"Oh," she said then paused.
"So what did you want?"
"Well you know your old friend Anne?"
"Yeah, what about her?"
"Well she`s in town & wants to see you."
"Well that`s going to be kinda hard since I`m in Pittsburgh right now."
"Why?"
"Because I have a game tomorrow & I have a girlfriend."
"What does having a girlfriend have to do with it?"
"What doesn`t having a girlfriend have to do with it?"
"Sidney what do you mean, I don`t understand."
"Well mother, all that Anne is going to want to do is get back together, which can`t happen. Oh my God, why don`t parents understand?!"
"Why can`t you two get back together?"
"How about because I`m with Kay."
"Can`t you breakup with her?"
"No mother I can`t just breakup with her," he said starting to get frustrated.
"Why not?" asked sounding just as frustrated.
"Because mom, I love Kay & she loves me, but see I was & never will be in love with Anne. I never liked her as more than a friend," as he said this he looked at Kay & smiled.
"Why do you say that you never will be in love with her?"
"Will you just leave that matter alone?"
"Excuse me Sidney Patrick, but no I will not!"
"Mother just listen to me I`m with Kay & you will not do anything to separate us."
Mrs. Crosby didn`t have the chance to say anything else before Sid closed his phone & throw it to the backseat of the car.
"What was that about?"
"Oh nothing, she wants me to breakup with you?" he said calmly.
"What?!" Miriya asked now very shocked. "How can you be so calm about that?"
"Baby you know I would never do that, you know that I love you."
"Why does she want you to breakup with me?"
"She wants me to go out with one of my old friends. We used to go out, but I never liked her that much."
"Would you ever want to go out with her again?" Kay asked now sounding scared.
"No because I want to be with you until the day I die."
"Does that mean?" she asked now sounding excited.
"Does it mean what?"
"Does that mean you want us to get married someday?"
"Well," he paused. "Just remember I never said that, you did."
"What`s that supposed to mean?"
"Oh nothing."
